This beginner level course for adults will take you through the entire basics of pottery wheel as well as hand building in clay. A range of techniques are introduced through ongoing projects. Ideation and design is emphasized so students are able to create their own designs in clay. Work created by the students will be their's to keep for functional or non functional use. The course is equally divided amongst hand building and pottery wheel classes.

 

The course includes -

 

• Pottery on the Wheel- Learn the fundamental techniques to properly throw on a pottery wheel.  Students will begin to make basic shapes like mugs, bowls, small vases on the wheel.

 

• Hand Building- The basics of hand building techniques- Pinch, Coil and Slab will be taught in this course. Using mostly your hands and basic pottery tools to decorate clay surfaces such as carving, sculpting, blending etc will be taught. Objects like mugs, vases, leaf plates, candle stands etc will be made by hand building.
